With Dolce & Gabbana’s new volume Campioni, we can’t help but be reminded of that most classic of Italian sculptures, Michelangelo’s David. Domenico Dolce, himself responsible for each of these 67 soccer-player portraits, describes that same concern for achieving a balance between “strength and innocence” when capturing this smorgasbord of established and emerging talent. “Talent”, of course, having a double meaning.
