Dolce & Gabbana Celebrate New York Via Italy For Alta Sartoria

We are officially crowning this weekend Dolce & Gabbana’s. It’s theirs, after showing both Alta Sartoria and Alta Moda shows in the heart of New York City over the past two days. It was a change for the Italian designers who usually thrive in their homeland. But, of course, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce know how to make it feel like home, and so into the Rainbow Room of the Rockefeller Centre was a classic glistening Dolce & Gabbana fest. Celebrities walked, and sat front row, and Liza Minnelli was right on the “Money.” Yes, “money makes the world go round,” obvs, and so this was the D&G chosen ones, in the building of the wealthiest family, showing their most expensive pieces down the runway.

It was a celebration of New York, the city embellished and stitched onto jumpers, the glittering of skyline lights charged through the sharpest metallic suiting. It was evening wear, quite literally to take you through the entire night, as star-covered, New York times printed and Aurelian-flowered dressing gowns were worn over crisp shirts and bow ties, jackets tied with robes. Slippers and all. From dinner to the club to bed. Do these boys club? Exclusively. A rush of street wear actually felt right for this NYC setting, baseball-like collars and elbow length sleeves fell baggy, with all that drama filled sparkle still there. Hoodies were printed with classic Dolce & Gabbana coloured prints and matching trackpants. The most luxurious of sweatsuits. Basketball uniforms were adorned, golden basketballs in tow. We’re playing for the D&G team. An ode to New York and all it’s fabulousness, as it all flowed in the swing of a lullaby that soothed our American obsessed souls. They definitely woke up like this, if they ever slept.
