Dominic is wearing a fur coat today. A fabulous fox fur thing. The Dolce alta moda girl is wearing one too. It’s mink, but equally fabulous and looks ever so snug. She wore a crown too. Something we would like to wear – though we’re not sure whether that’s down to our delusions of grandeur or love of fine jewellery, particularly that by Dolce. Let’s assume it’s the latter. The house’s alta moda spring/summer 2015 collection had an opulent air about it – the delicate sequins, the crystal buttons and the gilded jewellery, including that crown. But we detected an element of the Ballets Russes in the folds, pleats and ruffles of the ruched tulle. (Ballet was, incidentally, the main source of inspiration for the collection.) The whole thing carried a sense of 50s Italian glamour – the Silvana Mangano type of glamour – especially those off-the-shoulder numbers.
