Dior Present Their SS20 Campaign Starring Kim Jones’ Collab with Daniel Arsham

“Everything that I date, if I’m signing something, is dated a thousand years in the future,” said Daniel Arsham to Louis Wise who interviewed him for Issue 3 of 10+ boxazine. Explaining his own artistic gravitas as futuristic archeology in sculptural form, Arsham provided a clear insight into his creative mindset which reached an even bigger audience when presented as part of Kim Jones’ SS20 show at Dior back in June 2019. And just as the collection hits the stores globally, the French Maison are presenting the visuals that capture the partnerships of the two great minds.

Starring the sharp suiting with a heavy dose of elegance which Jones has been elaborating upon since coming to Dior, the Steven Meisel-shot campaign forms around the Back to the Future-style Delorean crafted in Arsham’s signature technique of creating concrete installations that look like they’ve been dug from way down under. It’s a hyper-modern exploration of the House’s codes, including the Lily of the Valley, Monsieur Dior’s favourite flower, as well as the oblique printed canvas and tailleur oblique, Jones’ favourite style of double-breasted asymmetrical suiting. And it wouldn’t be a Dior campaign without a demonstration of the season’s best accessories – the Rimowa collab cross-body bag and pastel-hued trainers are just some of the highlights we’ll be shopping in the coming months. Who needs to eat anyway?
