Ever wondered what a savage smells like? I’ve always imagined the scent to be a little musty. Maybe it’s something to do with the caveman-mannequin things you see in museums of natural history. They look as though they’d smell musty. But savages don’t smell like that. They smell of Sauvage by Dior. How do I know? Because apart from the random u in sauvage, they’re basically the same word, just in different languages. And what is a savage if not wild? And like the savage man, Sauvage has “forged a new territory for men”. Well, it’s been who knows how many years since a savage first forged any territory, so it’s time for a mini territory lift, so to speak. It is (and yes, we do believe the hype) “an olfactory shock, with all the appeal of a great classic. An uninhibited, unexpected trail. Powerfully fresh. Virile and confident. A radical creation for a man authentic and true.” And what does radical smell like, apart from savagery? Calabrian bergamot. True, most classy masculine scents smell ever so slightly of bergamot, but this is not your average bergamot. This comes from a land between the Ionian Sea and the foothills of the Aspromonte massif, having been introduced to the valley in the 16th century. The ultimate meeting of earth, wind and fire. Could there be anything more savage?
