Hype. Many fashion brands chase it, only the triumphant ones are able to grapple it with both hands and ride the wave of consumer excitement. It’s a rather special moment when a designer crafts that one product that whittles a certain level of anticipation that comes few and far between. We’re talking frantic Instagram stalking for a release date and queues around the block on the day of its arrival into stores. Kim Jones is a master of making such desirables – his link up with Supreme whilst at the helm of Louis Vuitton menswear represents a testament to his ability in creating a fashion pandemonium.
Despite being just short of two years as the Artistic Director of Dior’s menswear, Jones has created a gaggle of goodies that have successfully acquired an ecstatic eagerness for each release. Dior’s team up with luxury luggage specialist Rimowa being the most notable of the bunch., Ever since the collection of cases in all shapes and sizes debuted at Dior’s SS20 menswear collection, fans of both esteemed brands have impatiently been waiting for their chance to nab their own travel essentials. Lucky for them, the time has finally come.
Open from now and until February 2nd, 2020, Dior is staging a pop-up space at Harrods where the collection is being exclusively revealed. The mammoth luxury boutique is a particularly fitting location as from 1954 onwards, Christian Dior staged numerous fashion shows within a specially-fitted Dior room inside the complex. For two weeks only, the hard case hand luggage, as well as the cabin and trunk suitcases, will be showcased. Each variation comes stamped in the Dior Oblique monogram – following a colour palette that consists of silver, pink, matte black and a gradient royal blue. For those who are feeling extra boujee, there’s a gloriously elegant champagne case available exclusively to order. It holds one bottle of the bubbly and six Dior Maison champagne flutes – ensuring your next five’o’clock drinking session is done in style.
The Dior and Rimowa capsule collection is available until February 2nd, 2020 at Harrods 87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7XL.
