Foundation Meets Skincare In Dior Beauty’s Latest Release

Dior Beauty is not interested in half measures. Its latest launch – unveiled last week with a suitably discreet Soho pop-up – is a two-pronged approach to complexion, pairing skincare credibility with backstage-grade performance. Enter Dior Forever Skin Wear and Dior Forever Skin Glow: twin foundations designed to deliver what Peter Philips calls “camera-ready perfection”, whether you’re under studio lights or simply facing your bathroom mirror.

Imagined and formulated by Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, the duo builds on the house’s long-standing Forever franchise, but with a sharper focus on skin itself. Both formulas are infused with a familiar but effective trio – hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and peptides – alongside SPF, promising not just coverage but ongoing care. It’s make-up that behaves like skincare, and increasingly, skincare that refuses to sit quietly beneath it.

The split is clean but considered. Skin Wear leans matte, but not in the traditional, chalky sense. Its fluid texture melts into the skin, using micro-powders and polymers to blur pores and control shine without flattening the face. The result is a soft-focus finish that holds for up to 24 hours and, crucially, doesn’t migrate – even in heat or humidity. It’s engineered for long days, late nights and the sort of close-up scrutiny that usually demands a retouch.

Skin Glow, by contrast, is all about light. A reflective oil at the core of the formula works to diffuse luminosity evenly across the complexion, while high-coverage pigments and fine powders create that subtly filtered effect. The finish is radiant but not wet, buildable yet imperceptible, designed to mimic the kind of post-facial clarity that rarely lasts beyond a good day.

Both sit within a 45-shade range, developed through extensive shade-matching and bolstered by new-generation pigments better attuned to deeper skin tones. Even the packaging plays its part: frosted glass for the matte Skin Wear, crystal clear for Skin Glow – a visual shorthand for the finish inside.

It’s a pragmatic kind of luxury. Foundations that promise to perform under pressure, but also to improve the skin they’re layered onto – no ring light required.
