Don’t you just love a Dior campaign? Under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri, each season the glossies are graced with poignant celebrations of both femininity and diversity. The set of graceful images that make up the house’s AW20 campaign are no different. Captured by Italian photographer Paola Mattioli, the campaign is a series of intimate portraits. The tender images feature the designer’s synonymous slogan t-shirts, with quotes such as “Women’s love is unpaid” plastered across the chest.
As always, Chiuri has accomplished a mix of hyper-femininity and enduring classics, with sublime pieces such as a knitted version of the Dior Bar jacket. Chiuri’s love for this Dior staple has been no secret in her previous collections, and now the iconic silhouette is back. Created 73 years ago by Monsieur Dior himself, the Bar jacket revolutionised both Dior’s New Look and the fashion world entierely. Each of Dior’s predecessors, including Marc Bohan, John Galliano and Raf Simons, have injected their own creative spin on the house classic.
This time around, however, Chiuri has worked her magic by maintaining the architectural simplicity of the form, but made the jacket more accessible in terms of movement and comfort. The new knit version was perfected with four prototypes to reach Chiuri’s ideal vision of the timeless piece, which holds power, femininity and modernity. You’ll find it difficult resisting the urge to replace at least half your wardrobe with this new collection. Credit cards at the ready!
