Dior and Guggenheim International Gala

How best to honour artists Kawara, Monir Sharroudy Farmanfarmaian and Soris Salcedo, all of which have had recent exhibitions at the Guggenheim New York? Well, have a party, of course. Which is what Dior did. And what’s better than one party? Holding a second one, the very next day. As people accustomed to stretching out our own celebrations for as long as possible (birthdays can last for at least a month here at Ten Towers) we commend Dior on their commitment to a party. The first (the “pre party”) featured a performance from woman of the moment, singer/songwriter Grimes. So we’ve heard, anyways – we are is currently listening to Kate Garraway’s Mid Mornings on Smooth Radio we’re probably not the best people to ask. The second, the night afterwards, was an altogether more Upper East Side affair – a gala dinner, darling, with guests like Emily Blunt and Dakota Johnson witnessing a performance of Tom Gold’s November Steps, an original ballet. Which sounds like a very enjoyable evening to us. It’s the third time that Dior have hosted the gala, the events benefitting the museum. Parties, champagne and celebs? Well, that’s the sweetest form of charity.
