Onto a runway, shaped like a cross, lit by candles and watched over by wicker totems, marched a witchy woman. She brought with her an incantation for global cooling and earthly healing. For her first full catwalk show, Dilara Findikoglu revelled in her reputation as a fashion sorceress. Her tattered Victorian silhouettes and fierce finery were made with dead stock fabrics, natural dyes and embroidery produced by local women in her native Turkey. Femininity was weaponised with armour inspired silhouettes – all the better to celebrate female strength which the designer said would “ultimately save us.”
