“We are the DBG army. Focus on feeling each step. Cool confident strong.” Those were the rules for the Diesel Black Gold girls backstage. And so the troops came out, swaggering down the runway. Andreas Melbostad’s pre show lowdown went like this: “I had a feeling to do something light and I started looking at David Hamilton photos which are quite romantic and thinking about this character almost like Bjork in the nineties… And then she goes into like army surplus store picks up things and so we are really balancing the duality of the femininity and the softness with the core industrial spirit.” So the DBG girl for SS17 was a totally romantic babe on her way to a picnic, but got way laid and decided to buy some military bomber jackets for the ride. Good girl gone bad. These girls were pretty in pink, ruffled ra-ra tiered skirts and lace. A throwback. Bandeau tops and ripped jeans, drawstrings everywhere and cropped jackets. She was the modern day feminine bad ass bitch. So obvs we loved it. Andreas Melbostad is so clever. We’re officially DBG girls. Part of the army.
