Di Petsa: Ready-To-Wear AW24

For AW24, Di Petsa took us to the temple. Naming the collection, The Body As Prayer, Greek designer Dimitra Petsa centered her collection around the Goddess Venus and how divine beauty and sexuality are embodied in the act of dressing. Kicking off the showcase with a live music performance by Guzheng player Flora Yin Wong and a poetry recital by Petsa herself, what ensued was a full-bodied experience that felt truly heaven-sent.

Undercutting the collection with her signature wet-look gowns, Petsa first focused on light, airy tones like white and pearl, before transitioning into deeper shades like burgundy and navy. Using leather as the basis for these looks for the first time down the latter end of the offering, looks emanated an increased grit and tenacity. Silhouettes were largely slinky, grasping and falling from the body in a truly ethereal fashion, and details like a gap to home a pregnant belly and breast-baring mesh nodded to the unmistakable beauty of the female body. One showstopper look – modelled by singer Jesse Jo Stark – saw a silver fishnet two-piece and headpiece adorned with spherical silver balls, reminiscent of a celestial temptress rising from the sea. A symbolic performance took place in the middle of the display, where two models sprinted down the catwalk dressed in nude mesh, signifying the naked body, before meeting in the middle to represent the birth of the inner child. Simply divine!
