It’s fair to say Depop has well and truly changed the game when it comes to e-shopping. The digital fashion marketplace is all about putting the power back into the consumer’s hands – with sellers as young as in their late teens becoming masters of e-commerce. The democratic online shopping-extravaganza harnesses a whole new mood for peer-to-peer selling. As easy to us as Instagram, the app allows young Gen-Z sellers (and anyone else who feels like it) to fully flex their wings and start a business all from the comfort of their bedrooms. From the rarest of the rare when it comes to Palace hoodies, to vintage Moschino gems and unwanted Nike trainers – there’s no threshold to what you can expect to find on one of these young mogul’s Depop profiles, and now, Selfridges is getting in on the action.
Opening tomorrow and running until October, Depop is making its physical retail debut in the UK at the luxury juggernaut plonked on Oxford Street. Each week Depop Space Selfridges will invite different key sellers from the platform to showcase their finest garms and accessories which will be available to purchase in-store and select pieces will be sold on Selfridge’s website. Two of the app’s biggest sellers, Bella McFadden (@internetgirl) will be amongst the ten sellers taking part. The space will offer a retail experience with a difference, with sellers taking part in workshops centered around excelling your own Depop profile into a fully-fledged business. But you better get down there fast – these key players are known for selling out of stock quicker than Supreme on a Thursday morning. In order to meet the people who curated the pieces which will be available at Selfridges, we picked out items which best represents their style. Sadly, all these pieces are long sold, but there’s no harm in dreaming, right?
