Craig Green’s Spring/ Summer 2018 campaign is here, and it’s flaming hot. Literally. His body-sculptures have been turned into ‘talismanic structures,’ and have an intimidating, anthropomorphism to them. In an eerily deserted space, the structures, made from stretched single jerseys and pine make up a human frame. Mundane into madness. In the opposing image, they’re set on fire, flames flying up, lashing around the clothes yet so calm, peaceful. A Craig Green rebirth? As the fiery elements rage, the skeletal structure stands visibly strong and still underneath. It’s reminding us of a Bill Viola video installation, perhaps ‘Martyrs (Earth, Wind, Fire and Water)’. So we’re seeing a rush of water, cascading, putting out the flames, air swirling around the structure that stays forever grounded in the earth. A whole Craig Green installation imagined. It is Green’s ‘constructed paradise,’ as he said at his SS18 show, “…a long-focused horizon is finally grasped and starts to reveal the true glory of it’s possibilities.” Glorious. The possibilities are endless in Craig Green, the horizon looks good. Personally, we’re interpreting it as the fleeting chance to get our hands on new season Craig Green. In high demand. We’re feeling revived, reawakened. Love a thought provoking campaign and collection.
