Being not so keen on that concept known as “self-restraint” and frequently convincing ourselves that, yes, eighty quid is a totally reasonable price to pay for a pair of socks and is not better spent feeding, say, a family of five for a week – COS was a cause of some confusion when it first emerged ten years ago. I mean it was high street (“the high street? I think I read about it in Grazia once…”) and second the prices were – shock horror – reasonable. And more than that – it was good. Designed but not too designed, echoing the stuff that stomped the runway but made very much in their own image. And now, for their tenth birthday, they’ve created a special capsule collection called, fittingly, ’10’ (we’ll take it as a compliment) to show just how good they are.
