Coach The Shoes

You would think that, having been around for who knows how many years, that Coach, at some point, would have played around with the idea of designing a collection of men’s shoes, but no. They hadn’t. Until now. And it’s not even a collection, it’s a whole shoe wardrobe. There’s a shoe for every imaginable social (or other) situation you might find yourself in. They should have called them essential, because that’s what they are, but that would be dull. Giving them names that start with the letter A is much more fun. Alloting them names that start with other letters of the alphabet even more so. For now, though, we’ll concentrate on the As. Who doesn’t love a shoe, or a man for that matter, whose name starts with A?

AIDAN is dependable. Aidan works with his hands. He owns a dog, doesn’t like it when you smoke and may one day open a bar. The reason for this? The only Aidan I can think of is Aidan from Sex and the City. He might wear these when not working with his hands.

ANDREW is, or so we have been told, a Shakespearean name. In Shakespearean English it apparently means twelfth night, as in the play, because I get the feeling that it’s not the Christian festival that marks epiphany. Could it be that Andrew was the twelfth shoe in the collection? Hence the name?

ALEXANDER is a shoe who conquers the world and builds empires. Alexander, like Alexander the Great, is great. Wear Alexander and take over the world, one well-shod step at a time.

ALLEN is both, according to the internet, fair and handsome. And when it comes to the handsome part, in the case of this Allen, we’ll agree, as we can’t really say if he’s fair or not because he’s a shoe. Can shoes be fair?

ADAM. We like to think of Adam as the first shoe, the shoe that, if he had a rib, would give it to the other shoes to aid in their creation. But since he is a shoe, and so has no ribs, maybe he gives each of the other shoes a bit of sole, or heel instead.

ARNOLD is apparently derived from an old German name meaning eagle power. “The eagle rules.” And yes, eagles do rule. Tips for where to wear Allen? He would be best showcased against a backdrop of Hotel California.
