Christian Dior: Couture SS18

Are feminist slogans the new jewellery? We only ask because they made an appearance at the newest Dior Couture collection. In French, printed across the décolleté acting as necklaces almost. The simplicity of the idea echoed the simplicity of the collection. This was minimal and streamlined from Maria Grazia Chiuri. A restrained forties silhouette rendered in black and white. Fitted on top, cinched in at the waist and ever so slightly flared in the skirt, the simplicity of the line at play here showed off the intricacy of the Couture craftsmanship to full effect. Sixties op art prints were more than reminiscent of Qui etes-vous, Polly Magoo?- that most French of tributes to fashion madness. Whereas almost pop art masks, designed by Stephen Jones, added a touch of Catwoman to the proceedings, or should that be female spy and international woman of mystery? Either way, when its comes to kicking off the couture season, could it be kicked off any better?
