A master of form, taking global influences and injecting some pure modernity into them, all in purpose of creating a completely new vision of design. Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Jonathan Anderson obviously have a few things in common. The two design greats might be separated by almost a whole century, yet their ideas obviously come from similar parts of the creative brain. And so it makes total sense that Anderson took Mackintosh as the inspiration for Loewe’s latest winter capsule collection. Launching today exclusively with London’s Liberty department store in a dedicated pop-up space as well as online, the collection features a full range of bags and accessories as well as menswear and womenswear ranges. with everything from dresses, coats, knitwear to printed tees and trousers.
While some inspirations come more literally through prints and patterns, other are more subtle, incorporating Mackintosh-style engineering into classic Loewe bag shapes. A recreation of the Puzzle bag replicates a classic stone window motif, while The Gate turns into a geometrical lattice shape reminiscent of Mackintosh’s signature chairs.
