An Extensive Collection of Archive Chanel Pieces Is Being Auctioned At Sotheby’s

Cecilia Matteucci Lavarini

Clutch onto those pearls all you Chanel lovers out there. A treasure trove of a whopping 177 pieces of archive Chanel is being auctioned online next week. Pulled from the private collection of a mystery Italian fashion aficionado, the vast collection of ready-to-wear and accessories will be up for grabs at Sotheby’s Milan, with bidding commencing November 29th to December 5th. Key OMG moments from the collection include the flashy-yet-fancy Chanel name-plate belt and the same pearl embellished sunglasses that Rihanna once donned sauntering down the Victoria’s Secret catwalk. The selection of bags on offer is rather fantastic also. An all-red quilted bag sits next to gold brocade bag, which has a matching jacket up for auction alongside it. Some more obscure Chanel goodies include both the pop-art inspired ‘just a drop of No.5’ clutch bag and a shearling coated  from the house’s AW14 collection. The ever très-chic Cecilia Matteucci Lavarini can be seen modelling some of the finest gems above, herself an avid collector of over 3,000 luxury pieces, a fraction of which she has donated to the V&A. If you’re feeling extra giving this holiday season, or just wanting to make sure you’re the fanciest looking family member at the dining table on December 25th, bidding on some sublime archive Chanel is huge bang for your buck.

The auction will commence online from November 29th, running till December 5th. Or alternatively, you can place a bid at the Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan on December 3rd and 4th.
