As any decent search engine will attest, the depths of Chanel’s history are all-consuming. It seems appropriate, then, that the house’s latest fragrance should be named Coco Noir. Having trawled through that history to uncover black-based, Coco Chanel-related facts, our favourite is naturally the cattiest: “Really they are so badly dressed I’m going to put them all in black to teach them taste,” she once said. Thus we’re dousing ourselves in this supreme new concoction. After all, who doesn’t want some lessons in style from Coco?
