Where would we be without Chanel? It doesn’t bear to imagine… but I think we can all agree we would be far less chic for a start. Bringing a bit of that Parisian grace across the channel, Mademoiselle Privé (that’s ‘Miss Private’ in English, much less sophisticated) is due to open to the public at the Saatchi gallery in Autumn following the success of the Little black Jacket exhibit in 2012 that left us wanting more, always more. The display will highlight the Haute couture and high jewelry elements of the house and celebrate Chanel’s “audacity, freedom and innovation” of course not forgetting King Karl. Perhaps a bit of the Chanel allure will rub off on us English. À la mode indeed.
