CELINE: PRE-FALL 2015
It would seem that Phoebe Philo is continuing her artfully, we want to say dishevelled, but this isn’t dishevelled at all, so let’s go with artfully geometric slant. There’s a looseness to the collection which as a whole that has a feeling of almost falling away from the body. It’s structured yet unstructured at the same time. There’s an undercurrent of softness, a delicacy to the more tailored elements. Maybe it’s the sort of cross over leather bids, left untied, ends almost trailing on the floor, or the drop shoulder tops, worn under slinky jersey, or more structured dresses that literally look as though there falling off, that gives a kind of sense of that uncomfortable feeling when an under layer does start slipping down accidentally, but also, the feeling that you actually wouldn’t mind if it did, because, lets be honest, it’s a good look. Trousers, well more culottes have frayed hems, extra long frayed hems, creating what we refer to from now on as an ankle veil. Well, if you can have a veil for your face why can’t you have one for your ankle?
