In the heart of Marlebone, just a stone’s throw from the collection of Old Master paintings and 18th Century gems of the Wallace Collection lies Chiltern Street. The road is home to, funnily enough, A-lister fav the Chiltern Firehouse hotel, as well as The Monocle Café, Parisian candle maker Cire Trudon, Sunspel and the Atlas Gallery. We’re told that, those in the know will also know it is the address of Dr Joney De Souza’s cosmetic clinic, which offers the most natural lip jobs in London (but keep that on the down low!) Something you can shout about, however, is the opening of Casely-Hayford’s first London flagship store.
For a decade the London-based label, run by father and son design duo Joe and Charlie Casely-Hayford, has been pushing the envelope of contemporary luxury fashion. Inside the intimate apartment-like concept store; designed as immaculately as the clothes themselves by the interior designer de jour Sophie Ashby (creative director of Studio Ashby), split over two floors, shoppers will find not only the menswear and womenswear ready-to-wear collections but a Casely-Hayford atelier, offering made-to-measure and bespoke services. Eschewing the traditional model of seasonal collections, the store will follow suit of streetwear, offering instead regular luxury ready-to-wear drops. And, if that wasn’t exciting enough, for the first time since founded in 2009, Casely-Hayford will introduce a line of hand-made leather accessories including: two styles of shoes, weekend luggage bags and an array of earthy-toned statement handbags.
“We have been developing the concept for our flagship store for a number of years. It seemed like a natural evolution from conversations we have with our clients about expanding our personal tailoring service to garments outside of traditional suiting,” explains Charlie. “The store’s interior embraces colour, warmth, sophisticated texture, restrained maximalism and a culturally rich palette,” adds Joe. “It brings together high and low art forms and celebrates simple ornamentation. These are all aspects we strive to achieve through each collection we design.”
