Strapping ourselves into a few versions of the iconic Tank at a recent Cartier press day we were immediately enveloped by a love-drunk sort of feeling that had nothing to do with the free glasses of bucks fizz and everything to do with this timepiece’s weighty history. Everyone from Rudolph Valentino to Andy Warhol has worn one. “I don’t wear a Tank watch to tell the time,” said Warhol in 1973. “In fact, I never wind it. I wear a Tank watch because it’s the watch to wear.“ We know exactly what he means.
