Calvin Klein: Madison Avenue Holiday Installation

Twas the week before Christmas and all was well quiet, no creature was stirring, not even a mouse (or something). Not so in Ten Towers is far from quiet. We are a buzzing hive of (slightly stressed) activity. So, when we received these images in our inbox, we felt better. Just looking into Calvin Klein’s Madison Avenue holiday windows, now housing ‘Forming Light’ by artist Sophia Dixon Dillo is making us relax into a calm, zen-like state. Just look at those long sweeping lines, made from 82 miles (!) of copper embroidery fiber. The oh-so-minimal store. Those special home and accessories collections that they created to sit as part of the installation. Deep breaths. In their words – “subtle and minimal, the installation is experiential; it requires the viewer’s presence in order to witness the ever-shifting effects of light and movement on the piece.” And, just because the holiday season is all about giving – the message behind the installation is “Keep Generosity Present”, to mark their support of Save the Children this season. Aren’t they nice? Browse the pictures about and then get on a plane to New York and go see it for yourself – I hear New York is nice at this time of year…
