Calvin Klein Jeans Release Andy Warhol Self Portraits Capsule

Andy Warhol may have once said that, “an artist is someone who produces things that people don’t need to have,” but his artistry in the form of self portraits lighting up Raf Simon’s for Calvin Klein is something we do need. Want, love, desire, adore. All of the above. In the latest instalment in Calvin Klein’s partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, CK have gone straight to the source, being Warhol’s face, and printed his self-portraits onto denim, dark, light or white and other pieces of clothing. Red prints are plastered on the darkest navy denim, and pale fuchsia Andy’s are slapped on the back of white jeans, others more colourful on the front of tees. Much like Andy Warhol merchandise, but super fashion. Mini Andy’s appear on canvas high top sneakers and other small accessories. The images are polaroid-shot, and it doesn’t matter who and it doesn’t matter where, these are just some classic close-ups of the clothes on most likely cool people. That’s the Calvin way. Forget #MyCalvins and get ready for #MyAndys? Maybe #MyWarhols? Probably some legal requirement that will stop us from starting that but whatever hashtag we use, we are ready to be Andy-fied in all his self-portraits. May the Calvin Klein x Andy Warhol Foundation collaboration continue to thrive in our lives.
