We love a bit of Burbz down 10 way. Clothes, yes – obviously – but Christopher Bailey is just as good at creating a whole world that you want to inhabit, filled with pretty girls and boys and other such nice things that we would like to own, or alternatively, be. And, in celebration of this season’s show, happening in London this September in it’s brand new home – Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell – Bailey’s putting on an exhibition of images that have touched him and his work over the years. Entitled “Here We Are,” in collaboration with curator Lucy Kumara Moore, its focus is on British photographers, which means loads of our favourite snappers – from Alasdair McLellan (who is co-curating the exhibition) to Ken Russell, Martin Parr to Shirley Baker.
“When we started thinking about curating Here We Are, I knew I wanted it to celebrate a certain strand of British photography that I have always loved – one which documents the many and varied tribes and clans and classes that make up this island of ours. It has been an extraordinary privilege to gather together this collection of photographs, that have influenced me so much over the years,” said Christopher Bailey via Instagram.
“They provide a portrait of British life, in all its nuances, both exceptional and mundane, beautiful and harsh. It’s the spirit of those photographs – sometimes ironic, sometimes tender, always truthful – that has guided our September collection. Together they will form an exhibition in our new show space, celebrating a very British way of life and way of dressing.”
‘Here We Are’ runs from the 18 September – 1 October 2017 at Old Sessions House, 22 Clerkenwell Green, London, EC1. Entry is free.
