Burberry shows its true patriotic spirit with an assortment of projects honouring The Queen’s 70 years of service. As an appointed platinum partner of this June’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant, the British luxury giant has gone above and beyond in commemorating the reign of Her Majesty Elizabeth II.
The house has prepared two immersive and enticing outdoor installations for the grand celebrations. The first is a floating floral display of the brand’s logo encircling the Tower of London on the River Thames in support of Superbloom. Completed with 5,000 plants native to English river ecosystems and made with 1.4 tones of recycled plastic gathered from rivers, each flower will be donated to charity after this week.
Burberry has also teamed up with digital artist Jon Emmony to envision the Burberry Art Wall, modelled in the image of a biodiverse utopia. In envisioning a future guided by nature, the artworks mirrors Burberry’s commitment to protecting, restoring and regenerating the earth.
And the celebrations don’t stop there. Creating a forever token to mark the momentous occasion, Burberry has created a commemorative scarf in honour of Her Majesty Elizabeth II.
Filled with hand-drawn emblems illustrating ancient British woodlands – together with the native flora, fauna and pollinators – the scarves come painted with captivating images of yew trees, deer, butterflies and squirrels alongside four birds, each representing the British nations: a robin (England), capercaillie (Scotland), sparrow hawk (Northern Ireland) and golden eagle (Wales).
Earlier this year, the British fashion house also invited students from Armley Park Primary School in Leeds to express their thoughts on this exceptional milestone through artworks. Each drawing and message has been displayed throughout London to memorialise this historic moment.
The Burberry Queen’s Platinum Jubilee silk scarf is available online and in select Burberry stores.
