Brunello Cucinelli: Ready-To-Wear AW23

Top hats are having a moment. They came crystallised in white on Conner Ives’ grown-up catwalk and dipped in ink at Chanel’s couture circus. Brunello Cucinelli’s were a step up from traditional top hat territory, coming fuzzy with satin fixings. The fleecy accessories invited a new kind of relaxed luxury, underscored by understated elegance, refined skill and fluid sophistication.

Throughout, highly artisanal Shetland knits and dense tasselled Nordic versions arrived alongside boxy jackets, bulbous bombers, and five-pocket relaxed trousers treated with suede, satin and corduroy. 1990s style slips and sleek midi skirts were worn under aviator jackets and were styled with chunky boots or sporty socks tucked into kitten heels.

Tennis-style V-neck jumpers evoked subtle nods to academia; folksy patterns provided for a countryside feel. The tailoring was particularly great; blazers were worn atop cropped shirting and simple, sophisticated skirts. Sparkling suits were made to take you straight to an underground jazz club, a place of euphoria and lavish affairs.

It was a tried and truly timeless range, coming in a calming colour palette of beiges, winter whites, melancholy blues and jet blacks. These are clothes for luxe living.
