As far as breaking fashion news goes, this is a ‘where were you when…?’ moment. For us at least. Because after seven years at the helm of Louis Vuitton Menswear, driving the iconic Maison forwards with his indomitable vision that has seen some of Louis Vuitton’s most successful projects and collaborations, Kim Jones will be stepping down from his role as Men’s Artistic Director following the brand’s AW18 show this Thursday in Paris. In a statement this morning, Louis Vuitton revealed that a replacement would be announced in due course, with Michael Burke, Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO, adding “it has been a huge privilege to work with Kim. His ability to set trends is impeccable and his talent and determination have ensured that Louis Vuitton is firmly placed as the leading brand in luxury Menswear today. All of us who have been fortunate to work with Kim wish him continued success in his next venture.” Hear hear. A sad day no doubt, but not without a certain degree of excitement to see what this wonderful man has in store for us next.
