In 2025, the UK’s music scene is a sublime, bubbling broth made up of many ingredients. It’s rich with the flavour of countless genres, each thriving in their own right. Pop, rap, rave, R&B, jazz, jungle, neo-soul, indie, electronic, you name it – in every corner we have world-class pioneers leading the way and, simultaneously, ripping up the rule book. Featured inside 10 Magazine Issue 74, a portfolio of musicians all vary in age, genre, background, sexuality and stages of career. What they share, however, is self-assuredness, determination and confidence.
As someone who has interviewed many musicians over the years, it’s obvious when an artist doesn’t yet have faith in their own work. After speaking to each of the following rising stars, I found it refreshing to have come across a group of 10 artists, all dramatically different. who so clearly know themselves and what they want. They’re even going as far as to set boundaries and take the necessary time to pause between projects. Whether it’s JGrrey moving to the coast, Nabihah Iqbal heading to the Catskills for a two-month artist retreat or Cari taking a moment of reflection by revisiting the shop she once worked in, these artists are making the music that they want to make, when they want to make it. Oh, and they all happen to be women. Best get to know them now before you have to scramble for arena tickets – if anyone can do it, it’s this bunch.
Brazy wears DOLCE & GABBANA
The British-Nigerian artist Brazy, 23, describes her sound as “Afro, sexy, future”. It’s party music, perfect for the club, the rave, pre-drinks or an afters. It’s infectious and, more than anything, a sound that makes you want to move – so it’s best experienced somewhere where that’s possible. “I’m still building the Afro-sexy sound,” she says. “I don’t really have a lot of artists featured on my songs, but I definitely want to include more collaborations this year. It’s going to be super fun.”
Brazy began releasing music in 2021 and quickly caught industry attention for her ability to rap in various languages. The multi-linguist grew up between London and Lagos and breezily jumps between English, Yoruba, French and Mandarin. Her 2024 single, Take Your Vibes and Go, has been streamed more than three and a half million times and even went viral in China, which she describes as one of her biggest career highlights to date. The track, which blends Afrobeats with a thumping house bassline, also allowed her to “collaborate with artists that I really look up to, mainly [Nigerian MC] Kah-Lo,” she says. “She’s been on my dream collab list for a long time now and I’m so happy to have done a song with her.”
Though last year was her biggest yet, she doesn’t plan on slowing down in 2025. When I ask if there’s more music on the way she responds simply: “Of course. There’s always going to be more music.” More music, more stages and more fans (her ‘Brazylians’) are the main objectives on her agenda. She’s a superstar in the making and her confidence is all the proof we need.
