Heart beating faster. Palms are sweating. Your mouth are totally dry. It’s the physical reaction to the adrenaline rush caused by one of the most anticipated collections of the season (finally) dropping into stores. Thanks to Daniel Lee’s utterly chic imagination, decades of heritage in leather-making are now being utilised in creating contemporary high-fashion. “The Fall 2019 collection is a statement of new intentions, a new point of view, it’s about building a wardrobe with great pieces to wear,” explains Lee of his first pieces shown on the Milanese catwalk. With his first collection selling out pretty immediately (and those pouch bags becoming somewhat of a social media sensation), the excitement and hype rightfully continues. And who better to ride that wave with than Matches Fashion.
Officially launching today along with a special installation at their London townhouse of 5 Carlos Place, the e-tailer giant have worked with Bottega Veneta on a selection of exclusive pieces from their men’s and women’s AW19 collection. The curated selection includes two styles of women’s handbags, a pump, a coat, a skirt and a dress – it’s basically the core of your new-season wardrobe. For the guys, there’s the small messenger, a boot, a pair of trousers and a knit, all in a bespoke cream and brown colourways created specially for Matches Fashion. “What Daniel is doing is fantastic and the team at Bottega are great, there is a high calibre team working with him so we are excited to see what is to come,” tells us Natalie Kingham, the Fashion Buying Director at Matches. For the installation at 5 Carlos Place, Lee brought to life his inspiration of classic Italian cinema, with set-design composed of architectural pillars and cubes, and a selection of his favourite films screened into special viewing towers. If exclusivity and craftsmanship are both benchmarks of modern-day luxury, then consider this partnership the pinnacle of retail. Shopping really doesn’t get much better than this…
