Boost Lab is the best-selling Australian skincare brand on a mission to save your skin – armed with science-backed serums and a whole lot of honesty. Unlike other brands promising age reversing results, Boost Lab is clear it’s not The Substance, nor trying to be anything like that. Instead, Boost Lab is all about embracing mature skin – targeting women 40 plus – and giving it the boost it deserves. Plus, now that it has officially launched in the UK, it’s even more accessible than before.
“The world of skincare is not only expensive but complex and there was a whole demographic, typically 40 plus, that were missing out on good skincare because they either didn’t know what to use or they weren’t being represented or spoken to,” says Lisa Schweighoffer, who founded Boost Lab in 2020.
By zooming in on the unique needs of this often overlooked demographic, Boost Lab has not only made skincare more accessible but found a community of women who finally feel that they are positioned at the forefront of the beauty conversation. “All our skincare products are designed with mature skin in mind, so they’re safe to use on sensitive skin and that will always be a priority for us.”
One of the fan favourites is the Edelweiss Neck Firming Serum – a science-backed miracle product that tackles ageing concerns with active ingredients working together like a team of skincare superheroes. As Schweighoffer says, “the edelweiss extract defends the breakdown of collagen and elastin from environmental stressors and revitalises ageing cells to visibly lift and smooth sagging skin. Other key actives including vegan collagen also enhance the performance. There is really nothing like this on the market!”
This year, Boost Lab has undertaken a partnership with high-profile Australian television and fitness guru Michelle Bridges. On her podcast, We Have a Situation, which involves candid chats around women’s experiences with menopause, Boost Lab finds new ways to reach the needs of women over 40 with broader industry changes in mind, not just with skincare. “I’ve always been passionate about removing the stigma around menopause and empowering women in this demographic,” Schweighoffer says, “and [I] am involved in a number of initiatives on this front.” It’s a perfect partnership supporting women through every phase of life, especially when navigating the menopause rollercoaster with grace and humour. On top of this, Boost Lab has also recently received an MTick Certification from the UK-based organisation GenM – making it crystal clear that its products are designed to be menopause-friendly.
The beauty industry’s narrative around skincare is finally shifting from “anti-ageing” to “embracing ageing” and skin longevity, especially with the help of brands like Boost Lab that stand out by keeping it real. In a world of skincare overload, it keeps its focus on what truly matters – understanding the Boost Lab customer and never compromising on quality.
So, what’s next? As skincare personalisation takes centre stage, Boost Lab has its sights set on being right at the forefront. “We do however envisage a world where it will be far easier for a customer to self-select what is right for them,” says Schweighoffer. “We are working hard on this to stay ahead of the game!”
