Another day, another exciting British Fashion Council-based announcement. Today, they revealed Mr Nick Knight (Nick Knight OBE to you) will be this year’s recipient of the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator “for his outstanding contribution to the global fashion industry.” And what a contribution it has been – photographer, SHOWstudio founder, king of fashion film and all-round fashion innovator – Hhe’s pretty much done it all. The only surprise is that he hasn’t won it already. I mean, just marvel at the long list of his collaborators – Alexander McQueen, Yohji Yamamoto, John Galliano, Dior, Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, Bjork, Gaga and Kanye West. Which truly is to name but a few. And, lest we forget – he’s also worked with the creme de la creme – us – photographing our mammoth Victoria’s Secret cover shoot (above). Knight will join a very prestigious hall of fame, following in the footsteps of fellow creative minds Edward Enninful, Lady Amanda Harlech and the late Professor Louise Wilson OBE. He’ll receive the award at this month’s British Fashion Awards, which take place at the London Coliseum later this month. Is 9am on a Tuesday morning too early for a celebratory champagne? It must be cocktail hour somewhere…
