10 Questions with Fashion Designer Bethany Williams, The 2019 LVMH Prize Finalist

You’ve had a pretty amazing year if your name is Bethany Williams. The British fashion designer was awarded the second ever Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design just a month before being named one of the 2019 LVMH Prize finalists, all on top of pushing forward the conversation of social and environmental change. It feels exhausting just writing that, let alone doing all the work Bethany has done in the past two years since launching her brand. Beware: this is not just fashion for fashion’s sake. The conversation is bigger than the clothes seen on the catwalk – even though they do look incredible too. Bethany has been collaborating TIH Models, an model agency featuring individuals currently or transitioning out of sleeping rough on the streets of London. She is also exclusively using recycled/repurposed fabrics, working with women’s shelters and communities in drug rehabilitation on hand-weaving waste into textiles for her collections and creating a space of creativity. From next season, you will be able to shop her pieces at Browns Fashion, latest addition to already quite a strong list of stockists that includes Farfetch, Galeries Lafayette and The Library in London.

With all her work, she’s been silently putting to shame all those using sustainability as a buzzword for their collections, showcasing the truest form of positive fashion. Now, we asked her 10 totally irreverent question that will introduce you to Bethany Williams, the person. We already know how amazing she is at making the world a better place, but who would play her in a biopic? Continue reading and find out…
