It’s no secret that we have long been the proponent of a high-heeled shoe here at Ten Towers – however, we do realise that occasionally even the hardiest of girls needs a rest. Spare a thought then for poor Barbie – she’s worn heels for so long that her feet are rendered in a constant state of tiptoe. Well, no longer. Barbie’s had some work done, a ‘new articulated ankle feature,’ to be exact – meaning that she can sport a flat shoe for the first time. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Brit-designer Sophia Webster has designed a special collection of footwear for both you and your Barbie – including some flats, of course. “Creating a shoe collection for Barbie has always been my dream project, but getting to be a part of her embracing flats for the first time made it extra exciting, and deeply personal,” Sophia said. “I love that this concept strikes a balance between dreams and reality – the idea of getting Barbie in some hi-tops and setting her loose in East London instantly appealed.” For those of you who aren’t ready to hang up your heels just yet – alongside sneakers and flat sandals, Webster has also created three pairs of heels. Fab. There’s even three matching childrenswear styles. What better way to celebrate Barbie’s newly found foot freedom than indulging in a spot of shopping? The collection hits shelves this Thursday in Selfridges and online – it’s what Barbie would want.
Barbie by Sophia Webster launches in Selfridges London on August 27th.
