Here is a story about a boot. A Bally boot. And not just any Bally boot – a specific Bally boot, first discovered by artist André Saraiva at a vintage sale, and recently rediscovered when he was packing for a recent trip. So inspired was he by said boot, originally from 1973, that he set about creating the exact same pair for his girlfriend. But could he do that alone? Of course not. So he went to the source – Bally themselves and – ta-dah! – a collaboration was born. Working with Bally’s design director, Pablo Coppola, they redesigned the boot, birthing not just said boot, but a whole collection of small leather goods to go with it. Each one will be embossed will be embossed with André’s famous stick figure character, Mr A., found upon walls everywhere from Paris to New York. As our good friend Mr Press Release says, “André’s modern and playful style is a nod to Pablo’s fresh new take on Bally with a distinctive capsule collection that reinforces the brand’s heritage while engaging a millennial audience.” The collection includes – for those who want the specifics – men’s and women’s boots, a make-up bag, travel wallets, a credit-card holder, keyring, belt and silk scarf illustrated with the poster print. And, for your entertainment (who does work on a Friday anyway?) André Saraiva has also crerated a special cartoon to go alongside the collaboration. And we got the exclusive – watch it above.
The collection will be available in selected Bally stores and online in France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and US from October 2016.
