It’s been a week since the Balenciaga menswear show. Yes, a week. Which means a whole week since Demna Gvasalia has communicated with us braying fashion sorts what we the fuck we should be wearing. This morning, though, there was a collective sigh of relief as were awoken with a first look at Balenciaga’s brand new eyeball-pleasuring Mark Borthwick-shot, Lotta Volkova-styled AW16 campaign. Demna’s very first. According to the man himself via WWD, a campaign that shows “couture attitudes” in everyday settings. Which means forget worries that the current stiletto-cum-puffa jacket you have been trialling since the show is just a little bit too much, and that you don’t, in fact, look like Bianca off of Eastenders, or the Michelin man were he to have fucking amazing legs and was into cross dressing. No, Demna has re-okayed the look, shown here by his lasses who are out the back of somewhere (warehouse? function room?) possibly having a fag and proving once and for all that it is possible to look both outdoorsy and glamorous at the same time. Finally. A Ten Towers seal of approval also goes to that not quite full-length mirror. Obviously now we need similar not quite full-length mirror. Fuck it, we need it all. We’re foaming at the mouth.
