Can you hear that? No? Those are the ultra-high frequency squeals of excitement, issued from La Neophitou, somewhere in North London. If you can’t hear them, fret not – only dogs and employees of Ten Towers have the attuned hearing capabilities. It’s a bit like the twilight bark from 101 Dalmatians only there aren’t any stolen puppies, just news that Azzedine Alaïa will be showing his first couture collection for six years in Paris on the 5th of July.
Last showing a couture collection in 2011, the closest we’ve since come to ogling at his couture creations is in museum collections like Palais Galliera’s 2013 show dedicated to the designer. No, like a fine wine – the genius of Monsieur Alaïa is not something that can be rushed. Which is why, when the collection is presented to an intimately gathered crowd of fash VIP’s at his Rue de Moussy HQ in Paris, it will be all the sweeter.
