10 Questions With Aiden, As She Releases Her Debut EP ‘RA1’

In search of your next nightlife fix? Artist and model Aiden has dropped a new EP fit for your next rager. Finding love in dubstep as a young teen, Aiden’s history with music dates back a decade, taking after-school trips to create music for underground parties. She has held her ground in the fashion world, modelling for the likes of Miu Miu, Balmain, and Fendi.

Away from the catwalk, the British-American artist has found a home in music once again as she gears up to introduce her debut EP, titled RA1. Combining techno and hardcore into one rigorous little bundle, the four track project has been crafted in collaboration with R-Label Group, yet solely produced by Aiden. Here, she tells us more.

1. Describe your sound in 10 words or less.

“Melancholic, nostalgic, twisted, sometimes aggressive. I’ve always looked for a feeling those words give you when listening to music.”

2. Why is now the best time for you to release your debut EP?

“Aside from waiting for Covid to die down a bit, I wanted to take my time in releasing music.. I’ve been sitting on music for years, and it’s tempting to just put something out there but I felt I wanted my debut EP to be something I’d be proud of years to come with a label I admire. So now that it’s come together, I’d say it’s perfect timing.”

3. The four tracks were produced entirely by you, how was the experience?

“The experience was intense but I loved it. Like many artists, Covid hit abruptly and I used the insane amounts of free time to really focus on what I wanted to polish up in production. I also discovered so much music I’d never heard before, and this really inspired me during those long months.”

4. What song from the EP are you most excited to play live?

“Most likely “Nymph Catching”.”

5. How did you get into hardcore and techno?

“Techno I discovered through partying. Over time, I was searching for a harder sound but wasn’t sure if it existed or where to find it. I think the first taste I had of hardcore was when I watched Xol Dog 400’s Boiler Room set. Then discovered Kilbourne, Somniac One & Casual Gabberz.”

6. Who are your biggest musical inspirations?

“Of all time I would say Gorillaz, Snow Patrol, Deadmau5 x Kaskade, No Noise and Neurocore. Rikhter & Ghool have inspired me recently.”

7. What is your favourite moment from working on the EP?

“When it was finished, truly the best feeling.”

8. What city do you want to play in most?

“Either Paris, a lot of music that has inspired me comes from over there or Tbilisi.”

9. If you could collaborate with any artist, who would you pick?

“Probably Deadmau5 x Kaskade. Together they always create beautiful and timeless dancefloor tracks.”

10. What can we expect from Aiden next?

“Times are unknown, but more music is on the way. Some tracks faster, some slower, some weirder. More time spent in Europe haha.”
