“Nostalgic, but incredibly modern,” is how Berardi described his cruise collection. Elements from traditional wedding dresses, such as lace, have been modernised and ‘Berardified’. Take the strong silhouettes for example, or the bubble skirts, the asymmetric dresses or crisp white numbers. Though there’s elements of bridalwear, it’s not in the least bit twee (heaven forbid). The Berardi girl seems quite chaste but, at the same, not. All it would take is for her to undo a button or put on a flesh-flashing skirt and bam! De-chasted! She’s back to the Berardi girl we know so well: Strong, sensuous and powerfully feminine.
