1. MY “GENIUS FILES”
I’ve always collected fashion magazines and ephemera; I still constantly refer to them for inspiration.
2. MARILYN NEUHART DOLLS
I have a gigantic collection of these embroidered yarn-head cuties from the 1960s.
3. ROCK ‘N’ ROLL
The soundtrack to everything I do, everything that inspires me.
4. RED LIPSTICK
When I couldn’t find the perfect true red in the market any more, I had to create it in my own line.
5. MY NEW YORK APARTMENT
The look is very Elsie de Wolfe, Mary Blair, the Peacock Room, Rose Cumming, the Amalienburg, Serendipity.
5. MY HAIRCUT
Garren cuts my hair and has done the hair for all my shows. He’s the best.
6. FLEA MARKET
The Sunday flea market is practically like going to church for me and my friends; it’s a ritual.
7. MY MOTHER’S RING
I always wear it on the day of my fashion show for good luck.
9. GEMMA TACCOGNA PAPIER-MACHE
Her millinery stands and pincushions were the inspiration for my iconic Dolly Girl emblem.
10. CURIOSITY
I love doing research, learning about something new, sharing my discoveries.
