Boudoir with a hit of bad-ass attitude, Aniye Records closed Milan fashion week on Sunday night with a show that deserved a prime-time spot.
For her second on-schedule outing, designer Alessandra Marchi said she was inspired by the female protagonist Lady Oscar from the 1970s Manga cartoon as well as vampires to create her 36-look show that sought to reposition the archetypal femme fatale.
“For me it’s very important that femininity is always celebrated,” she shared backstage post show. “For me, it’s [all about] this – sexy, irreverent but always elegant.”
Super refined but retaining the rebellious rock’n’roll streak as is her signature, the collection presented ethereal babydoll dresses with flattering sweetheart necklines, diaphanous negligées and embellished corsets tantalisingly styled with ruffled lace suspenders, and ’70s-esque suiting worthy of any headliner (and after party).
As mercurial-satin illicitly skimmed over curves, crepe de chine was employed to make a raised tissue effect on heart-shaped underwear and crystal heart brooches held together cutout LBDs. Elsewhere, halter neck jumpsuits with diamanté hearts and puff-sleeve boleros brought the drama.
Beautiful and beguiling in equal measure, it was accomplished, seriously moreish leading lady stuff – by day and by night.
