Aniye By chose to show their AW17 collection during men’s fashion week in Milan. Not that this move suggest that the collection was, in any way, manly. In fact, quite the opposite. I mean, what says femme more than full sequin look? A frilly skirt? But there was also something grungy about it. But grunge made pretty. Girly. Or, to handily quote the press release, “Romantik Punk”. Big, roomy jumpers worn with delicately embellished gypsy skirts beneath, swathes of black velvet, saucy peek-a-boo panels. Fabrics that ruffled and rouched around the body. Which sort of gave the appearance of volume, whilst maintaining a certain slinkiness. Could we call her a seductive grunge princess? Smells like teen spirit.
