Another fashion-based exit – this morning, Italian design house Tod’s announced the departure of their Creative Director, Alessandra Facchinetti. Word on the street (well, Reuters) is that she’s leaving to “focus on other projects put aside in order to be able to achieve Tod’s strategies” We get that. It’s Friday. We’re tired. Considering early retirement. There’s no word from Facchinetti yet, but when she took the role she expressed her delight at taking over the house – “as an Italian designer,” she said, “I feel very honored to take up such an important role for a brand that – with the highest quality and refinement – helps to keep up the prestige of Made in Italy in the world.” Previously, Alessandra was creative director of Valentino, and before that helmed Gucci’s womenswear line for two seasons. As yet, there’s no talk of a potential successor, or any rumours about where Fachinetti might be heading next. Oooh, a fashion mystery.
