Adam Selman: Ready-to-wear AW17

There are many places that we would rather be than stuck on the tarmac at JFK, one of those being Adam Selman’s AW17 show which was, in fact, where we were supposed to be, had we not have been delayed by approx 1000000 hours due to current blizzard situation in NY. But we’re here, just, so as we wait for our baggage, we will share thoughts gleaned mostly through looking at Instagram because Adam is brill and we’re really very sad to have missed it. This was, from what we can see, about flowers. Literal ones, scattered on plinths around the runway. But also in human bouquet form a la the final look, where the model was covered with sprays of foliage. A veritable floral cornucopia. How better to say it than with flowers? Probably best we weren’t there, tbh, because when we see a bunch of flowers fly past us our natural reaction is to grab. You know what they say about catching the bouquet, and we’ve always wanted a white wedding. Elsewhere this was that sort of nineties girl that Mr Selman is so good at – oversized shirts worn with strappy tops and dresses over them, touches of denim, dungaree style straps. NYFW begins!
