Acne Studios Paris Fashion Weeek Aw15 Backstage Boys

Meet the Acne boys. This season, they are a bit more in touch with their feminine side. And one specific female that they are in touch with is Iris Apfel. They seem to have appropriated the 93-year-old fashion icon’s flying-saucer glasses. And even her lipstick shade too. Gender and the political struggle surrounding it was at the heart of Acne Studios’ autumn/winter collection. As well as display a level of androgyny, the boys wore scarves emblazoned with “EQUALITY”, “FEMINIST” and “GENDER”, nodding to the fight of feminists and LGBT activists. But the collection wasn’t all gender bending and political statements – there was a fusing of luxury and activewear too: brightly-printed (and ever so slightly Mr Motivator-like) leggings worn under knee-length shorts and tabards. There was sharp tailoring, totally enviable outerwear (take the ankle-length mac and teddy bear coat for example) and thick-soled sneakers. Androgynous, utterly contemporary and littered with wearable pieces, this was a strong, forward-thinking collection from the brand. P.S. We want a pair of Jonny Johansson joggers STAT.
