A.P.C.: Menswear SS18

For his Spring 2018 collection, Jean Touitou brought the runway to him – more specifically, his A.P.C. store just off Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Smart. And the models? Who needs a casting agent when you have a shop full of strapping staff who know the clothes inside out? Also smart. Collection was smart too. Smart in the sense of  scrubbed up, preppy. Edgy Ivy Leaguers? Shirts, some buttoned up to the top, sat under crew-neck knitwear or tucked into crisp, un-fussy tan trousers, sometimes with the aid of a belt, some with a wallet tucked into said belt.

Lots of matchy-matchy bits going on here too – tops tucked into matching bottoms and accompanied by bags of the bum and back variety, although here, both were worn front-facing. Some nice anoraks too, one worn with what was potentially nothing underneath. Saucy. Elsewhere, Touitou played with layering – short sleeve over long sleeve, experimenting with block colours, checks and stripes. Also of notable mention: that fabulous pair of paint-splattered jeans. You could achieve the look yourself by throwing paint on a pair of expensive jeans but – it’s just not going to be the same is it?
