A Gucci Guide To The World With Their “Places” Project

GucAncient Rome or Classical Greece, the Acropolis or Alyscamps, Gucci spans both time and space. Following last week’s announcement that they would be jetting the movers and shakers of the fashion world to Alyscamps, the ancient Roman necropolis on France’s southern coast, for their 2019 Cruise collection, the Florentine House has also expanded their Places Project with news that the globe-crossing initiative launched earlier this year has just grown by another six cities. Aiming to enrich international community ties by inviting people to explore the brand’s favourite locations, Chatsworth House was the first spot to be dubbed a ‘Gucci Place’ in July, where the brand supported their landmark exhibition ‘House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion at Chatsworth House’.

Now, six new locations have been added to the project, including the Biblioteca Angelica library in Rome (as seen in Gucci’s Hortus Sanitatis publication earlier this year), and the Castello Sonnino castle in Tuscany’s Montespertoli. That’s just Italy. Back in London, Maison Assouline has been selected, as well as LA’s County Museum of Art, the Bibo restaurant in Hong Kong and the Waltz store in Tokyo. Being 2017, visitors will be able to collect special badges from visiting the sites via the Gucci app, kind of like Pokemon but these badges can’t do battle. And, if like us, you’re likely to need a lifetime to see all of these places, fret not – Gucci will be releasing special patches inspired by each place that will feature on Gucci products on site and in nearby stores.
