Raf Simons loves The XX. And we’re very glad for any excuse to write about Raf. He’s collaborated with the London-based band for their latest video, the third in a series of films they have made with the immensely talented Alasdair McLellan. For this, “I Dare You”, Raf has lent his creative eye to the project, working on the concept and direction with Alasdair, as well as offering up his Calvin crew – Millie Bobbie Brown of Stranger Things, Ashton Sanders of Moonlight, Paris Jackson (of… Michael Jackson?) and models Lulu and Ernesto Cervantes. I want to say there’s a Ferris Bueller vibe to this – okay, the above is shot in LA (a love-letter to the city in which they wrote their new album), not Chicago, but aside from that, you’ve got kids skiving off school, large suburban pads, a shiny red car and Jamie Smith, who looks a bit like Cameron. If you squint. Anyway, the vid features a loved up Ashton and Paris (fantasy pairing – can we make a reality?) who link up with Calvin Klein campaign models Lulu and Ernesto Cervantes for a joint skiving operation. Oh, and Milly Bobby Brown’s also tagging along. The denouement? The gang dare one another to enter a very spooky house, only to discover… well you’ll just have to watch, won’t you? It’s above…
